Technical guides for people who design, buy and run security programs. Start with a pillar guide; each links down to the research and definitions behind it.
Autonomous security drones: the technical guide
The hub for our drone research: architectures, endurance physics, weather, regulation and cost — with links to the models.
Pillar guide · 15 minPerimeter intrusion detection systems: the technical guide
Sensor types, the Pd/NAR trade-off, fusion, timely detection and placement — the hub for our perimeter research.
Regulation · 11 minDrone security regulations: BVLOS, Part 108, Remote ID and the EU
BVLOS waivers, the pending Part 108 rule, Remote ID, EU specific-category authorisations and the legal limits on counter-drone.
Technical guide · 9 minDORI and pixel density: how far can a camera identify a person?
The formula behind every DORI distance on a camera datasheet, with tables you can check.
Technical guide · 11 minDrone detection: radar vs. RF sensing
Range scales with the fourth root of RCS; RF sees links, not aircraft. The numbers behind layered drone detection.
Explainer · 8 minRemote ID for security teams
What Remote ID broadcasts, how a site can receive it, and why it only sees cooperative drones.
Template · 7 minAutonomous security RFP checklist
Forty questions that separate time on watch from availability to launch, and real detection from brochure numbers.
Buyer guides
Drone-in-a-box vs. redeployable sentry
Endurance, coverage, cost and predictability compared across the three architectures for autonomous aerial security.
Pricing guideHow much do security robots cost?
Hourly rates, purchase prices, hidden costs and a worked comparison with 24/7 guard posts.
Design guideAutonomous perimeter security, designed properly
Layers, sensor choice, operator ratios and response design for substations, ports, pipelines and campuses.
BriefingCounter-drone protection for fixed sites
The small-drone threat, detection technologies, identification, legal response options and program design.
Buyer's guideHome security robots: a buyer's guide
What patrol robots do well, where cameras still win, privacy, costs and planning estate coverage.
Glossary
Time on watch
The fraction of time a security system can actually observe a given point, as opposed to the fraction of time it is available to be deployed.
TermDrone-in-a-box (DiaB)
An autonomous drone system in which an aircraft lives in a weatherproof dock that launches, recovers and charges it without on-site staff.
TermPerimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS)
A combination of sensors, fusion logic and assessment tools that detects people or vehicles approaching or crossing a defined boundary.
TermNuisance alarm rate (NAR)
The rate of alarms caused by something other than an intrusion attempt — wind, animals, debris, weather — usually per zone per day.
TermProbability of interruption (PI)
The probability that an adversary is detected early enough for a response force to arrive before the adversary completes the attack.
TermHuman on the loop
A control model in which autonomous systems act within approved limits while a human supervises and must authorize consequential actions.
